It is essential to recognise that your child is unique, and their learning style reflects that uniqueness. Specialist dyslexia tutoring offers tailored support for your child, alongside guidance and assistance for you. Dyslexia manifests differently in each child, necessitating a flexible approach to tutoring. While younger children might thrive with a multisensory, step-by-step method, older children may require assistance with study techniques and organizing essays. Although I maintain a general plan, my expertise as a specialist teacher enables me to adjust lessons to address any emerging challenges effectively.
I firmly hold the belief that children absorb information best when they're enjoying themselves. Despite conducting my lessons online, I ensure my students receive a resource package enabling them to engage in multisensory activities. These activities may involve using materials like glitter, playdough, and arts and crafts to enhance spelling skills or create mnemonics to aid memory.
I have a limited number of tutoring slots available and provide personalised tutoring via Zoom to children aged 5-18. I hold formal Dyslexia Qualifications and I am DBS-checked.
Although each student’s programme will be different, these tutoring sessions are completely tailored to your child’s exact needs, interests and learning style, so children tend to make very rapid progress.
You can expect the following benefits:
· Personalised learning sessions tailored to your child’s specific needs
· All programmes will be structured, cumulative and multi-sensory;
· In the majority of cases, a phonics programme will be followed, such as Letters and sounds, RWI.
· Regular assessments and feedback
· Metacognition will form an important part of the programme and will help learners to develop their strategies and approaches.
· Rapid progress as a result of targeted learning support
Most lessons take place via Zoom, after school or at weekends, but I can also offer daytime lessons on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
