Access arrangements serve as essential provisions for candidates with Special Educational Needs, allowing them to access examinations without compromising their integrity. Such arrangements are agreed upon in advance and entail "reasonable adjustments" for candidates who fall under the "disabled" category as stipulated in the Equality Act 2010. It is of utmost importance that all candidates be afforded equal opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and skill, and access arrangements play a crucial role in this regard.
The arrangements will be tailored to the student’s individual needs. Most commonly, they are provided with extra time, and/or a scribe. Depending on the need, other access arrangements can also be provided.
The assessment will consist of the selection and administration of appropriate tests of reading, writing, spelling and cognitive-processing speed.
In order to undertake a thorough assessment of candidates, it is important that the 'skeleton' Part 1 of Form 8 be completed beforehand by either the SENCo or an assessor working within the educational centre. This will require the provision of detailed information regarding the candidate's background and history of support. Thereafter, I will liaise closely with the educational centre to complete Part 2 of Form 8.
I am an experienced L7 SpLD (Dyslexia) Specialist qualified to assess for Exam Access Arrangements.
Cost
The cost includes completion of Form 8, section 2, with the school having already completed Section 1 prior to the assessment.
The cost is £50.00 per student.
